We are seeking volunteers for the following posts:

The HGS Research Centre is looking for volunteer assistants. Previous research centre or similar experience is not essential but any volunteer will not be a beginner. Computer literacy is required and knowledge of both online and society research tools would be a distinct advantage.

The HGS is looking for a Publicity Officer to publicise the activities of the HGS to as wide an audience as possible. This would include:
  1. Publicity for the Annual Open Day in September and the Annual General Meeting in May, including press releases and placing advertisements in newspapers/magazines where cost-effective.
  2. Notification of events to kindred organisations, record offices, libraries, family history publications and newsapapers for inclusion in their diary and "What's On" sections.
  3. Issuing occasional press releases with details of new HGS CDs, society news etc. in the appropriate media.
  4. Produce and circulate fliers and/or posters to record offices and libraries.
  5. To provide information for listings of clubs/societies either in print or on the internet.
  6. To liaise with the Editor of the HGS journal and the Webmaster.

Although some tasks are essential, the position can be as big or small as you like - and the ability to take a photograph would be an advantage. This is a voluntary post and expenses are paid. If you want to know more about it, please contact HGS Chairman , by Email.

We hope to continue our good work at Family History Fairs and other Publicity events and if you live in Hampshire or 'out of county' and would like to help on the stall when it is in your area, please see the list of where we will be and when. Contact Chris, who will be pleased to hear from you, for further details.

Please contact Chris, the HGS Bookstall Manager - for further information on how you can help.
