To help with individual research the HGS maintains a Research Centre, and also provides search services for the following: *

For the COUNTY of HAMPSHIRE only:

For the whole of England and Wales: * Details of how to use these services - are contained in the Members' Handbook, which will be sent to you by the Membership Secretary, on enrolment. They are also published periodically in the Hampshire Family Historian.

Non-members, please apply to the Research Room for details/estimates.

Published Research Aids for the COUNTY of HAMPSHIRE only:

Including some census, baptism, marriage, and burial indexes, monumental inscriptions and various other finding aids.

See the Publications section for details of how to obtain.

Note:
This is a summary of the services available. Please remember that many HGS Index-holders also work in paid employment and do not have time for lengthy correspondence. Please keep any enquiries to a minimum and always remember to include a Stamped and Self-Addressed Envelope with each request. Cheques should be made payable to 'Hampshire Genealogical Society'.  Many researchers prefer to send open blank cheques for us to fill in the figures, whilst writing the words e.g. "maximum amount £5.00" in the amount section. For current members the Members' Handbook gives full details of each service - a replacement handbook can always be obtained from the Membership Secretary (send 3 x 1st class stamps + A5 sized SSAE).
